Bluegrass Orthopaedics and Lexington Christian Academy Add Athletic Trainer

Cameron Deckett, MS, ATC, joining both organizations effective immediately

Lexington, Kentucky (July 2, 2018) – Bluegrass Orthopaedics (BGO) and Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) today announced the expansion of their partnership resulting in the addition of a second athletic trainer to the LCA Athletics Department. With this addition, Middle School games will now have complete coverage by an Athletic Trainer. This coverage has been part of high school practices and games for nearly two decades.

Effective immediately, Cameron Deckett, MS, ATC, is joining the BGO/LCA team. He and his fiancé Rebekah come to Lexington from Missouri. Deckett is a graduate of Missouri State University in Springfield, where he received his Master's Degree in Athletic Training.  “We have 43 teams, 80+ coaches and more than 800 student-athletes, from the youth level to the varsity level,” stated Terry Johnson, Director of Athletics. “The need for more coverage was clearly there and our partnership with BGO made this a no-brainer. We are proud to be affiliated with BGO, and especially Andrew Carlson.”

The Sports Medicine program at LCA began 19 years ago, and has grown in size, experience, and coverage levels each year.  Andrew Carlson, the Head Athletic Trainer at LCA, is going on his 13th year with the school, the last two he has been the Director of Sports Medicine at BGO where he has provided exceptional, profession sports medicine care to the student-athletes of LCA. The growth and expansion of athletic teams at LCA necessitated additional resources. “To watch the growth of our programs over the years has been amazing,” Carlson said. “I love this school and want to continue providing the best possible care for LCA student-athletes. Adding Cameron ensures we have the resources to do just that.”

Deckett is strong in his Christian faith and serves as a small group leader for the youth group at his local church, as well as working as the athletic trainer for the Drury University wrestling and cheerleading teams the last two years.  “My fiancé and I are very excited to join the LCA family and become a part of what God is doing in Lexington,” stated Deckett. “The people have been terrific already I am excited to work with the kids and their families at LCA.”
