Football Eagles Earn Third Straight Regional Final Bid with 43-0 Road Victory over Shelby Valley

The Eagles headed to Pikeville for a 2nd round playoff date with Shelby Valley friday night as one of five Lexington teams still alive in the playoff hunt. Only the Eagles survived, as they built on a solid first half with an explozive 2nd half to handle the Wildcats 43-0. Shelby Valley, featuring the state's top rusher, were winners of 8 straight games and sported a 10-1 record entering the contest.

The visiting Eagles breezed to their fourth straight win. Xavier Brown’s 19-yard touchdown run put LCA (9-3) ahead 17-0 heading into halftime. Receiving the second half kickoff, the Eagles faced a fourth-and-10 from the 15-yard line. LCA quarterback Jayden Barnhardt hit Will Vernon in the end zone for a touchdown. Another touchdown pass from Barnhardt to Vernon put the Eagles up 30-0.

Freshman RB/WR Xavier Brown showed off his versatility in the receiving and rushing game, accounting for three touchdowns in the game.

Next week the Eagles will travel to Somerset to face the district champion Briar Jumpers at 7:30 PM.
