The Eagle boys basketball season tipped off last week in grand style. The Eagles had three games in the season's first week, taking all three. They handled Cordia in the opener 67-50 behind senior starv Kyle Rode, who scored 35 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Fellow seniors also contributed with Will Hacker adding 11 points/6 rebounds and Matthew Johnson chipped in 8 points/4 rebounds.
Next up they hosted Western Hills out of Frankfort. The Eagles prevailed 65-52. Once again, Rode led the way with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Hacker (11 pts/3 rebounds) and senior Pearce Dalton (8 pts/2 rebounds). Junior Zeke Grier added 9 points/2 rebounds.
The team traveled to Berea to take on Paris in the Oliver Properties Tip-Off Classic. LCA won 64-48 behind yet another strong performance by Rode who scored 39 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Johnson chipped in 12 points and 3 assists to help in the victory.
The boys travel to Tates Creek tomorrow night to open district play before hosting Scott County Thursday night.
