The 2018 season is already here and the young volleyball squad opens up the home schedule tonight against Bryan Station.
Third year head coach Kirby Willoughby enters the season with a young, but talented squad. "We lack a little size, especially with Alex (Tesar) out with her injury," Willoughby stated. "But we feel we can overcome that by excuting our defensive and passing schemes. Our girls are all moving in one direction and are very coachable, so we are excited to get going."
The team faced four preseason top 20 teams last weekend in the Bluegrass State Games and held their own very well. Going 3-4 on the weekend against high level competition, gave the team and coach Willoughby some confidence.
"There were certainly things for us to review and work on, but overall I was pleased with our effort and the way we competed," Coach Willoughby continued. "We have some things to tighten up, but they are things that can be corrected."
The varsity takes the court tonight at 7:30 PM after the freshman match, which starts at 6:00.
