Cross Country Teams Compete Well in West Virginia

Cross Country Has Strong Performance in West Virginia

On Saturday September 1st the LCA Girls and Boys Varsity Cross Country teams traveled to Ona, West Virginia to compete in the St Mary’s Medical Center XC Festival Night Race on the WV State Meet Course at Cabell-Midland High School. 

The girls team ran short handed with 3 athletes taking the trip.  Freshman Anna Rupp led the team, leading the field through the first 4000 meters and finished 3rd overall all with a new personal best and Girls Class A State leading time of 19:56.

The boys had a strong team performance despite losing their #3 runner to injury 500 meters from the finish placing 5th in the A-AA team standings.  Leading the LCA boys were podium finishers Senior Andrew Madden (4th) and Sophomore Connor Hayes (8th).  Senior Malcolm Palmer medaled with his 32nd place finish.
